Concert Bands
The two concert band classes at Cal High are the Symphonic Band (no prerequisites) and the Wind Ensemble (audition only).
Both groups prepare challenging and dynamic wind literature to perform in a variety of festivals and concerts. Members of all bands participate in solo and ensemble festival, chamber music performances as well as earn spots in all-state and all-region honors bands.
The Symphonic Band is an intermediate-level wind band that focuses on establishing excellent foundations of musicianship. This ensemble performs at several events during the school year as well as at our Winter and Spring concerts. The class is open to all students wishing to advance their fundamental knowledge of a particular instrument.

The Wind Ensemble consists of advanced musicians who wish to further improve their skills on a particular instrument through ensemble training. An increased focus on technique and performance excellence is emphasized in this class. This group performs in several festivals and events during the school year.
