WINTER GUARD

Winter guard is an indoor pageantry sport rooted in traditional military and veterans’ ceremonies that has evolved into a vibrant performing art blending choreographed dance, expressive movement, acting, and equipment work with flags, mock rifles, sabres, and a variety of props. Unlike traditional color guard, winter guard takes place entirely indoors, typically in a gymnasium or arena and is performed to recorded music rather than a live ensemble. Teams compete at local, state, and national levels, and the activity continues to grow in schools and independent organizations across the country. No prior dance or color guard experience is required; while having at least one year of experience can be helpful, any student who is committed, willing to learn, and ready to work hard will find a place on our team.
